I am a senior business leader and change agent in global markets with over 30 years’ international experience driving profitability and capital efficiency for complex, international, client-facing businesses within top-tier investment banks. My detailed knowledge of linear and nonlinear products across asset classes, as well as less liquid and more volatile emerging markets, is complemented by proven expertise in guiding delivery of impactful change to meet evolving regulatory requirements and enhance clarity and efficiency through the adoption of new technology.During my tenure at NatWest Markets, I spent over a decade in global leadership roles delivering the strategic reshaping of the business. I helped reduce the size of the balance sheet and leverage, cut RWA substantially, improved risk mitigation and management, and raised the performance and motivation of our people. Subsequently, I undertook a final project to direct the turnaround and return to profitability of the fixed income trading business.My deep knowledge of more volatile and illiquid emerging markets stems from my formative years spent leading increasingly large teams in EM Trading and Sales that included postings to Singapore and Tokyo. I have worked at the centre of the market’s adjustment to increased regulation with a strong emphasis on capital efficiency, cost control and better client engagement, and have overseen large programmes of change in large and complex global businesses. One of my key strengths has always been my ability to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, and much of my career success has been driven by my ability to recruit, direct, motivate and develop talented specialists, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture that helps to break down siloes and engage with business challenges.In my time away from markets since leaving NatWest in 2022, I have taken on a number of projects, most notably working with Signify, an AI-led ethical data science company that uses open-source data to develop insights and analysis, especially through its innovative Threat Matrix initiative.
