Hello. Thanks for reading this.... my goal and my passion is to reach out to people, see what's on their minds and if asked, offer suggestions to help. This can be for anything from looking for a new job opportunity to suggesting networking events and how to behave at them. I truly love engaging with people! I especially find it very rewarding to help individuals through what could be a difficult time in their lives (finding a new job). Many of them were dealing with unique challenges related to a disability or health condition as well as the challenges of unemployment in this difficult economy.My role was to help job-seekers identify their true talents, skills, and career interests, and help individuals figure out what they “really want to do.” I engaged a variety of members from the business community in program activities which connected job-seekers and employers. These included job search mentoring, informational interviewing, mock interviewing, and job shadowing opportunities.I was also able to leverage my business development experience and community engagement to assist in social enterprise and financial development efforts.I taught and facilitated over 100 workshops on a variety of topics related to the job search process: including skills and interest identification, effective job search strategies, resumes and cover letters, social media, online job-search techniques, interviewing skills, and soft skill awareness.I was an honoree featured in Corp! I was also the technical liaison to all external companies wishing to lease the large (back then) Uniroyal Mainframes. Major customers included Ford, GM, and local governments. I left this position as a VB programmer when the company combined operations and left Michigan - only the "big tire" remains.
