My day-job mostly involves providing mentoring/support and consultancy advice on ISO27k, security metrics and strategy. I keep busy staying abreast of the field - lots of reading, thinking, blogging, writing and maintaining security policies and awareness/training content, reviewing and commenting on ISO27k standards, maintaining my websites, supporting the global ISO27k user community through the ISO27k Forum, running a small business, plus the odd bit of fencing and animal husbandry.

Running a micro-business is both challenging and rewarding ... but being the boss trumps having a boss.

I spent ~16 years researching and writing information security awareness and training materials, day-in, day-out.

This was an interim role following the sudden departure of the incumbent ISM. I helped the company recruit a replacement (after turning down their offer in the first week!) and re-energized the team which had become the No Department.
