BI Solution Architect for a large global organisation focused on the Microsoft and SAP stack. I co-designed and implemented two significant architectures; a central data platform and a Power BI architecture. Central Data Platform; We designed and implemented a central data platform using Microsoft technologies such as; Azure Data Lake Storage(Gen2), Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Azure Synapse (Classic and Serverless).The architecture supports global data secured by functions and data projects. The architecture consists of a defined taxonomy, is centrally governed, and provisioning of new data projects is an automated process, creating artefacts and assigning permissions (RBAC, ACL and SQL). The final design was ratified with Microsoft and transitioned to BAU.Power BI Architecture; The organisation uses Power BI extensively and requires architecture to manage workspace proliferation, management of premium capacities, reduced data proliferation, and a manageable security model. We created a framework aligned to usage patterns with naming conventions and appropriate levels of governance based on patterns. The architecture was rolled out, together with a detailed training program to assist data and report creators and consumers.

With the BMI Group, I designed and implemented a BW/4HANA data warehouse platform, using SAP Data Services to extract data from all 57 source ERP systems with 23 different ERP types and SAP Information Steward for master data management. My tactical abilities were on full display as I built solutions in Native SAP HANA to meet our short term needs while developing an enduring solution that aligned with strategic objectives. In addition, I designed a logical data model allowing governed data warehouse combined with agile models, implementing solutions across four functional areas: finance, sales, procurement, and supply chain.• Achieved £200k in fixed cost savings, avoided additional costs of £1.08m by aligning strategic solution architecture to business and SAP Roadmap.• Ensured effectiveness of newly implemented platform by training and upskilling relevant staff in SAP HANA and SAP BW/4HANA.

During this project, I optimised multiple functions while overseeing the transition of an ageing system, redesigning existing capabilities to maximise capabilities of the new SAP HANA environment and defining new strategies and standards to exploit benefits in a mixed modelling environment fully. I also facilitated improved reporting functions, allowing real-time reporting on planning and forecasting data, which supported data-driven decision making. • Realised reductions in support system department overhead of 40% introducing BW single security model, and in TCO through simplifying overall data model. • Reduced business process time from two hours to 30 seconds by improving response time and data reporting.

For this client I contributed to their enterprise transformation project migrating JDE to SAP ECC and designed management reporting solution on on SAP BW-on-HANA. To start, I examined their current business practices, policies, and vision to create a management reporting system delivering revolutionary reporting response times. To deliver performance targets for complex reporting requirements, I employed mixed modeling architecture finely tuned in both SAP BW and SAP HANA. • Expanded insight, analysis, and forecasting capabilities in addition to improving reporting times, enhancing overall data management in reporting functions.• Won a significant consulting engagement through successfully solving complex problem with SAP HANA modelling

This was another client project, where I assessed proof-of-concept to demonstrate the ability of SAP HANA Enterprise to process complex business rules against large volumes of data, eventually recommending full system architecture based on initial success, and built a comprehensive solution meeting all requirements. I incorporated Decision Tables, Calculation Views, and Stored Procedures, with an end-to-end solution exceeding performance expectations.• Reduced business process times from twelve hours to five minutes by simplifying process, removing need for extracts of data through extensive Microsoft Excel manual edits. • Accomplished ability to provide complex average calculations based on conditions against over one billion rows of history, not possible under legacy system.
