In my career journey, I've had the privilege of wearing many hats: mentor, investor, entrepreneur, and advisor. What's always driven me is the opportunity to support and guide others, whether it's companies navigating growth or individuals seeking career advice. I'm grateful for having the opportunity to mentor over 1000 individuals, a role that has been as enlightening for me as I hope it has been for them.My path has led me to co-found Babbage’s, which evolved into the brand GameStop, and Laura Mercier Cosmetics. These experiences have taught me valuable lessons about building and nurturing businesses. During my tenure at TPG, I had the opportunity to share my insights with CEOs, a role that deeply enriched my understanding of diverse business landscapes.As president and CEO of Kinko’s from 2001 to 2006, I was part of a team effort that transformed the company and smoothly integrated it into FedEx, now known as FedEx Office. Working alongside the FedEx team, including founder Fred Smith, was a highlight of my career.Serving on the boards of various companies, including Electronic Arts, Petco, and Sabre, has been an honor. Equally, my involvement in community initiatives in Dallas, such as with the St. Mark’s School of Texas and the Dallas Young Presidents’ Organization, has been a source of personal fulfillment.I'm a proud alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin and Harvard Business School, and a member of the McCombs School of Business Hall of Fame. I currently live in Dallas with my wife Karleen, surrounded by a family that inspires me daily, including four children and 11 grandchildren who continue to pursue their dreams across the United States.At heart, I am driven by a continuous desire to learn and a passion for sharing knowledge. This philosophy forms the basis of my new book, "Always Learning: Lessons on Leveling Up from GameStop to Laura Mercier and Beyond," which reflects on leadership principles I've gathered over the years. These insights cut across industries, offering guidance to a diverse audience.I'm excited about my podcast with Jill Louis, aimed at mentoring and connecting with budding entrepreneurs.
