Since 2020 I have been permanently based in Madang and working to build our Madang Butchery brand. In 2022 we commenced operations in Goroka and will open a retail outlet in 2023. We are exploring options to expand to other national centres over the next 2-5 years.

I succeeded my father Gerd as Managing Director of G. Litz and Co. Ltd. when he retired from the business in 2011. I successfully brokered the sale of non-core businesses MBS Hardware, MBS Cash & Carry, and refocused on our core butchery and smallgoods manufacturing business. Madang Butchery was completely renovated to include a German-fitted boutique butchery shop and state-of-the-art bulk storage refrigeration facility. The retail shop quickly grew in reputation and regularly attracted tourists and customers from all over Papua New Guinea. The factory’s output was increased and Madang Butchery became the preferred meat supplier for major retailers across Madang province, as well as major retailers throughout PNG.

In 2002 Madang Butchery expanded their supermarket business with the purchase of Anderson’s Foodland (equivalent to a mid-sized Coles or Woolworths) and Madang Wholesale. I was appointed General Manager of non-Butchery operations. During this time we purchased Rabtrad Madang, which included Rabtrad Hardware, Wholesale, and Cash & Carry. I was responsible for all aspect of management, strategy and operations for this division of the business.

I started working in Madang Butchery at fourteen years of age. I began at the bottom and worked my way up - there were no favours for the boss' son, and I learnt all aspects of butchery from my German Master Butcher father, Gerd. I still use his "butcher's bible" today to create our range of specialty smallgoods. I took on increasing responsibility as production manager and store manager.
