Having been inspired during the first Earthday in 1970, my academic and professional career has been a progressive development from biology to zoology to field ecology to environmental management within state government. Conducted research in animal psychology, particularly with orangutan sign language abilities in Borneo, and riverine ecology in Indonesia, which led to a commitment to pursue conservation and education activities to help insure the long-term survival of Indonesian biodiversity and environment. Creating and nurturing nonprofit organizations has provided a means to involve other people in finding solutions to help save one of humankind's closest primate cousins. Employment within government as an environmental scientist enabled me to earn a living and understand the larger scale environmental challenges and solutions facing our species. Now retired from state government and working with for-profit and nonprofit enterprises, my challenge is to leverage knowledge and technology to reverse the negative impacts of global climate change while improving the lives of local people and protecting endangered species and threatened habitats. My goals are to:* Facilitate the transfer of appropriate environmental technologies to Indonesia that will promote sustainable development and improve environmental quality while ensuring health and safety to the people.* Educate the people of Indonesia to appreciate and value their natural resources and rich biodiversity so it might be saved from extinction.* Develop partnerships with other organizations to create models of environmental and economic excellence in small communities adjacent to biodiverse ecosystems.Specialties: * International environmental consulting* Technical trainer in hazmat health and safety* Lecturer on orangutans, their ecology and status* Hazardous Materials Technician* Emergency response and disaster planning
