For example, the state of California recently passed a law raising hazardous waste violations (per day/per violation) to $70,000 while potential maximum penalties for environmental violations under federal law have risen to $102,000 (per day/per violation).HOW TO AVOID VIOLATIONS1. Meaningful Training“Check-the-box” trainings, even if required by law, often fail to teach HOW to comply with EHS obligations. We regularly provide EHS Compliance training, auditing, and regulatory update courses for clients and the Continuing and Professional Education program at the University of California 2. Useful Procedures We performed 500 EHS Compliance Audits throughout the country and overseas, evaluating a wide range of industry sectors, revealing “hidden” regulatory and other liabilities within facilities, as well as identifying regulatory gaps that require corrective action.3.
