Oversees all aspects of financial reporting and financial statement preparation; Supervise A/R, A/P, Accounting and office staff; Budgeting and Cash Flow Management; Work with external auditors and tax accountants; Review, update and create Policies, Procedures and Internal Controls; Responsible for Cash Management, monitoring financial risk and bank activity. Reports to the CEO and the Board of Directors.

Conduct, plan & coordinate benefit plan audits for five plans with $5 billion in assets; Perform, monitor and oversee accounting and financial controls for employee benefit plans; Schedule and monitor the progress of the audits. Prepare and compile audit request data and provide documentation, correspondence and support to the auditors; Improve the preparation and appearance of the financial statements by researching and applying the current accounting rules. Coordinated SEC filings. Collaborate with the other AXA departments in order to compile the data and support required by the auditors. Manage Sarbanes-Oxley requirements working closely with Internal and External Auditors; Extensive database analysis using Access and WinSQL

Prepare and review State and Federal Insurance Department requirements including preparation of the Annual Statement. File and prepare FICA and FIT payments. Work with other departments to prepare special reports for internal and external use. Federal and State Income Tax return preparation. Contact person for CPA’s. Managed the accounting of the assumed and ceded reinsurance business.

Manage the financial reporting, budgeting, analysis and operational accounting functions. Preparation and filing of the numerous Insurance Department requirements including the Annual Statement. Preparation of financial statements using statutory accounting requirements. Extensive database analysis using Microsoft Access. Interface and coordinate actuarial, tax and other support functions with parent organization. Coordinate external audit examinations. Monitor compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Analysis of reinsurance contracts.

Responsible for the following areas – coordination of accounting functions, financial statement preparation including SEC filings, Sarbanes-Oxley, external audit coordination, financial analysis, procedure documentation, policy development, fixed assets, Federal and multiple State Income Tax preparation including subsidiary returns, sales tax for multiple states, property tax and payroll taxes.

Prepare and review accounting staff’s corporate financial reporting. Monthly forecasting of cash flow and expenses. One year and three year budgeting of expenses, assets, liabilities and cash flows. Tax reporting, including Federal, State and Canadian Income Taxes, property tax, sales tax and payroll taxes. Return on Investment calculations for equipment purchase decisions. Inventory costing and price variance calculations.

Supervise and review staff accountants’ tax and financial reports. Planning of audits, including budgeting of time and employee costs. Consulting clients on various business decisions. Responsible for the audit, review and compilation of the financial statements for over forty businesses. Preparation of corporate tax returns.
