The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) currently manages seven Certified Farmers Markets in the Bay Area and represents over 300 family farms, specialty food purveyors, and artisans. AIM is committed to quality over quantity when it comes to farmers markets and is working diligently to build the most productive markets for its participating members that best reflect the communities they serve.Mr. Root served on a variety of Board Committees and Advisory Committees. He also served as Treasurer, Board Vice Chair, Board Chair and Board Parliamentarian.

The Greater Farallones Association supports the efforts of NOAA and the Sanctuary with citizen science programs, restoring critical habitat, addressing climate change, education for kids, and funding for noted researchers.The upwelling of a unique and powerful current within the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary is responsible for creating one of the most spectacular & biodiverse marine ecosystems on the planet. It is home to one of the largest feeding grounds for white sharks, 29 species of whales and dolphins, over 390 species of fish, and over 330 species of invertebrates – deep sea corals, sponges, shrimp, crab and other mollusks and crustaceans and much more.Our programs train citizen scientist volunteers that work with Sanctuary biologists to maintain the health of the Sanctuary, restore significant habitat, and combat the impacts of ocean climate change. Our programs provide 10,000 volunteer hours in the field each year, educate the public about our ocean, and collect critical data and research that help ensure our waters are pristine and the ocean wildlife are thriving.At The Greater Farallones Association, Mr. Root was on the following Board Committees:- Executive Director Search Committee (Chair)

Same Day Seafood began as an incredibly fun "side-project." Our mission was to deliver unique, super-fresh and immersive seafood experiences to people.By combining deep domain expertise, social media venues and contemporary retail technologies, we eliminated multiple layers of the traditional seafood distribution network. This enabled us to offer higher prices to suppliers and lower prices to the ultimate consumer for a super-premium product that trumped competitive offerings.

* Created, developed, patented and commercialized consumer electronic products.* Responsible for negotiating and securing licenses on internal intellectual property.* Worldwide patent holder for GPS-related performance monitor. (See Patents section.)* Created successful e-commerce subsidiary which sold food products directly to consumers.

Advised CEO on product development strategies related to Liquid Spark's Intellectual Property.

* Responsible for all business development, contract negotiations and marketing.* Salvage Master for massive marine casualties: explosions, collisions & groundings.* Lead teams ranging from 20 to 300 people responding to a wide variety of marine disasters and heavy-lift transportation projects.* One of only four commercial U.S. Salvage Masters for The United States Navy.* Company moved a “cylinder” for the U.S. Navy worth $1.1 Billion.* Advised federal government on matters related to port security via workshops at The National Academies, a federal think tank.* Worldwide Marine Salvage Engineering – HECSALV “power-user”.* Worldwide Heavy-lift Transportation Engineering.

* Managed highly unique marine transportation and ship salvage projects in the field.* Directly participated in dozens of marine heavy-lift ro-ro, flo-flo and lo-lo operations.* Responsible for managing the technical requirements of over 350 vessels.* Supervised and conducted new design and engineering analyses.* Maintained proactive interaction with federal regulatory bodies.* Responsible Managing Employee for CA Contractor's License – Engineering.* Reported directly to the Vice President of Engineering.

* Oversaw production activities on the construction of nuclear submarines.* Scheduled production for three (3) shifts of work utilizing multiple trades.* Ensured consistent, timely flow of construction materials to trade foremen.* Designed and created a computerized work package control system, which evolved into a production system still in use today.
