RealTech provided the Multiple Listing Services aggregation and web presence for several real estate customers, including John L. Scott and Coldwell Banker subfranchises. We were bought by John L. Scott in 2007. I provide database engineering and administration, including:• Designed and managed the project to upgrade from SQL2000 to SQL2008R2;• Negotiated and enforced standards, security, and disaster-recovery planning;• Redesigned JLS's replication topology to be reliable and fast;• Performance tuning reduced web-app timeouts by 95%;• Data warehouse ETL speed increased by 40x;• Instituted reliable backups and automated testing of backup integrity;• Prototyped a replacement platform integrating JLS's MLS ETL, Merge Replication and Search applications using SSIS, Service Broker, Spatial Datatype and Full Text Search, increasing speed and scope of real estate listing availability: think details like Redfin, but automatically discovering and making searchable for demographically emerging criteria such as "transit", "gated community", "ADA Compliant", and employment campus names.Update: John L. Designed and built databases, sprocs and ETL processes using SQL2005 SSIS, T-SQL, XQuery and LogParser, adding features and localization to software license subscription services.

Design, implementation, performance-tuning, ETL, scalability and maintenance of Microsoft SQL platforms supporting MSNBC.com news publishing and content management. Application diversity included:• Oracle-MSSQL replication• Database design, development and administration driving the NBC.com, MSN.com, and official International Olympics Committee websites for the 2002 Winter Olympics, supporting dynamic generation of thousands of web-pages including hundreds of pages with live gate/lap times. • Increased ETL throughput 30X on terabyte web-log data warehouse delivering site-traffic analytics to NBC and the International Olympics Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics, providing results much faster and richer than those available from Microsoft’s internal systems. • Planning, and mentoring SDEs and SDETs on SQL performance and security.

Design, implementation, performance-tuning and maintenance of Microsoft SQL platforms supporting MSNBC.com news publishing and content management, including: • Database design, development and administration driving the NBC, MSN, and official International Olympics Committee websites for the 2000 Summer Olympics• Redesigned, developed and administered the database platform for MSNBC’s LiveVote in first-ever use on live television (Dateline and Court TV). • First-anywhere production implementation of beta Windows Load Balancing/Log-shipping failover for SQL Server.• Database enhancement and scaleability for MSNBC's complex web-publishing platform.

We built a browser add-in giving rich capabilities for managing locally saved content and bookmarks, as well as a multi-purpose portal website scaled to support three million subscribers in Microsoft Commerce Server interfaced with Active Directory, integrating search by Inktomi.
