Here’s a little about me:I blew my back out while working in Wichita, KS after giving my all to construction for over a dozen years so I went to school in the evenings and acquired a CADD Drafting Diploma. This led to a CADD Draftsman position. I took to it well. Was promoted to CADD Manager and immediately implemented BIM. Revit wasn't ready for prime time yet, not by a long shot, but ADT was. I fought one of the first fights with BIM, "Actual vs. nominal". September 11 came along and played havoc on things and I ended up unemployed.Next I moved my family to Duluth for an opportunity with a multi-discipline Design and Engineering firm. Here I fought the next fight: Inter-discipline coordination. Revit wasn't ready yet so again I implemented ADT but I began configuration and setup to head that way and we were working Pilot projects. But the move was hard on my family so we headed to St. Louis for more options.Here we go again. Another firm using basic AutoCAD even though they owned ADT. Changed that immediately by implementing a "phase it in" plan with an eye on BIG BIM. Multi-application communication and bridging the gulf between Design and Construction were the new goals. Revit was truly blooming so we were beginning to work with it as well. Corporate politics and a downturn in the economy caused me to end up on the street yet again.Full time positions were impossible to find so I formed a "consulting" firm. This kept me working until the industry started to recover a bit. Ironically, there are now BIM professionals looking for work everywhere, all with degrees, so the recovery has been my downfall.I'm looking for a new full time position where I can be of such benefit to the firm (and the Architects, Engineers, and Construction Management professionals that they employ) that I will never find myself looking for another job.Guess what. I found that job back in the state of Tennessee only a few miles from where I grew up. Went back to my roots professionally as well, rolling back to production as my primary focus with a sideline of building families and functions for Revit when I'm not using it to build models and producing the documents required by those in the field that are doing what I started my career with.Specialties: Optimizing and Customizing AutoDesk and other CAD and BIM programs along with integration to other applications such as MS Office Desktop applications with an emphasis on Architectural and related areas.
