Working in cross-functional, international teams to update IVD software and provide customer support. I am the Risk Manager for the primary IVD software for new assay on QIAGEN's flagship PCR platform. I am also the top Level platform support for customers and assist with both internal and external troubleshooting activities. Additionally, my role includes writing and reviewing user manuals, customer letters and other promotional material, and representing QIAGEN to customers and commercial partners in conference calls.

I am responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of studies within the qPCR product development department, and have presented and discussed results with pharma partners. I have expanded my core responsibilities by specialising in qPCR software, including softwae development activities and advanced data analysis. In addition to this, I lead the process improvement group and am responsible for supervising temp technical assistants.

My main role at cobra was the purification of biopharmaceuticals, most notably DNA. I was regularly involved in the purification of over 100mg of research grade plasmid DNA. Additionally, I've also played a significant role in the development of the purification method for DNA produced by multiple displacement amplification techniques. This included optimising the small scale process and development of this procedure for scale-up to GMP mass-production, with the target of producing 1g of DNA without the need of a bioreactor. Furthermore, my analysis of routine procedures resulted in the identification of several areas for streamlining and simplifying regular tasks. This included replacing a semi-qualitative method with a more reproducible quantitative method, plus the complete removal of an entire processing step from a separate procedure.

I was responsible for the expression and purification of human nuclear receptors using affinity, ion exchange and gel filtration chromatography. This then allowed me to characterise the heme ligation by UV-visible and EPR spectroscopy, and the DNA-binding and transcriptional activity using functional assays.In addition to this I was involved in the development of a new method for the determination of reduction potentials, responsible for solving the structure of a protein from the electron density, writing research papers for publication and regularly involved in teaching. I gained approx. 100 hours experience demonstrating to undergraduates in the teaching labs and supervised and assisted new PhD students, master students and undergraduate project students working in the lab. Furthermore, I was heavily involved in running and maintaining the lab, including the ordering of consumables and liaising with external companies when equipment needed to be fix or replaced.

My main responsibility was the optimisation of a home diagnostic testing kit and then the development of the individual manufacturing steps into mass production processes. I also got involved in the diagnosis of clinical samples and the subsequent test of these samples with our novel product. Moreover, I was responsible for ensuring that I maintained ISO 13485 standard whilst working, and abiding to COSHH assessments (which included writing new COSHH assessments as new processes were developed).
