Dr. Gary Perlman dedicates his career to educating others about the ways in which oral health affects overall health. Dr. Perlman began practicing periodontics and implant dentistryin Jacksonville in 1989, and has never wavered in his commitment to professional development, as evidenced by his determination to be on the forefront of new methods and technology in his chosen field. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Honors from The University of North Carolina At Chapel Hill, Dr. Perlman enrolled at the Emory University School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1983. Dr. Perlman continued his educational pursuits at Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. There, he received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontology, which later became the focus of his practice in Jacksonville. Periodontics is the area of dentistry concerned with the functional and structural disease of the gums and jaw bone surrounding the teeth. This tissue is known as the periodontal ligament. Periodontal disease affects a startling 80% of United States citizens by age 45, a statistic that motivates Dr. Gary Perlman to stay abreast of emerging technologies and methods for treatment. His diligence has enhanced his reputation as a premier periodontist in Jacksonville. In June of 2010, Dr. Perlman fulfilled the requirements of the LANAP (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure) Training Continuum through the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry.
