Leading teams of professional engineers, Gary was intent on mentoring the next generation of leaders whilst marketing the Group’s products and services throughout the Asia Pacific (APAC). From 2019 Gary was actively targeting strategic partnerships and acquisitions in Australia, NZ, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Peoples Republic of China (PRC). At RECO, Gary guided the company through periods of significant change: in the 1980’s, from start-up, marketing and selling one of the most significant civil engineering inventions in the 20th Century to conservative public authorities, consulting engineers and profit focused contractors, whilst building the Reinforced Earth™ brand; in the 1990’s, establishing an entirely new industry in civil engineering in AuNZ, meeting the challenge of expiring patents, aggressive competition, financial deregulation and recession; in the 2000’s, merging operations following the Group takeover in 1998, restructuring, diversification, significant growth and consolidation; in the 2100’s, hard dollar fixed price contracts, alliance contracts, D&C, DCM, Concessions and more.
