Achieved reduction from 371 idle cases down to 262 in just 4 months.● Put in place an umbrella contract arrangement to get all refrigeration installation work now under a formal contract instead of simplistic purchase order conditions. Especially important to make sure there is a Principal Contractor for every project even on minor works.● Tendered external QS support agreement and achieved reduction in fees of $1m per annum ( now down to $3.5m on projects worth over $400m.)● New senior QS appointed and trained to act as a successor.● Quickbase, web based app from Intuit introduced as replacement for Zircon (Access database). This allows trade by trade tracking of costs on each project highlighting where project managers are agreeing variations without involving management or informing the QS. Cost per m2 for all projects 5% or more below national benchmark for retail projects.● Implemented policy of “minimum” possible budget at outset and taking back monies to keep contingency at just 3% after refrigeration installation and construction contracts are let. This lead to a drop in the $/m2 cost of refurbs in from $1047/m2 in FY14 to $826/m2 in FY15.

This includes all aspects of the built environment as well as coordinating signage, graphics and point of sale.● Maintain and improve all project reporting platformsAchievements: ● New livery documented for premium stores and for Metro stores.● Kit Cost reduction Project: take 20% of kit cost out, result was 11% saving through sourcing lowest cost equipment and reducing role of consultants in terms of checking on the landlord consultants.● Implemented DVR process to formalise visibility and approvals of changes to approved store designs. Consistently challenged request for additional footage and use of non standard equipment.

Development of new liveries and layouts for supermarkets, management of store development and construction databases, procurement of shopfittings direct from China and Taiwan

Key responsibilities: ● Lead responsibility for cutting out the local equipment suppliers and put in place systems to ensure the successful procurement of shop fitting equipment directly from Chinese manufacturersAchievements: ● Tendered shelving, bakery equipment, produce displays and shopping trolleys to Chinese suppliers for a saving of 27% ( $5.8 million saving per annum).
