My transferable skill sets, and not specific industry knowledge have provided the foundations for my continual successes.Known for my "Happy days" sign off, I believe that GRIT and resilience are the single most important qualities that set those that can make things happen apart from those that could make things happen, and executing on what needs to be done is the singular building block of all success.I have been very lucky in my career to date to have found the very best people to surround myself with, and they have made attaining success easier than if I had to do it alone. Not one of the roles I have had to date has been a success without the support and help of those around me. Sometimes we may have to change those around us or develop them in different ways to make this a reality, as in my experience everyone needs to be aligned and culturally fit for purpose."Culturally fit for purpose" is a saying I learned from an ex boss whom, I greatly admired. At the time i didn't realise just how important "culture" was, but I have come to realise it is the most important thing in building a high performance sales team. Never waiver on standards as once the bar has been lowered the new standard has been set, and the culture of the team or organisation has shifted. Do this enough times and the cumulative effect can shift an organisation or team in ways that stated strategy cannot.Final thought - It seems strange but I am always reminded of the famous Gary Player saying "the more i practise the luckier I get", and it astounds me when I talk to sales people and leaders in business how few of them practise. Look at all the great sport stars in any sporting arena and see that the GOATs spend more time practising than anyone.
