About Gary Shorman

Gary Shorman is Chairman of the Board and Chief Development Officer a Eagle Communications. Shorman served as President and CEO of Eagle Communications, from 1997-2019. He is also a Trustee of the Eagle Employee Stock Ownership PlanEagle also owns and operates 28 radio stations in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. All of Eagle’s radio stations have a tradition of being connected to the communities they serve with a focus on local news, sports, and weather. In addition Eagle has Creative, Digital, and Online Learning divisions.Eagle is 100% Employee-Owned and has won 5 national Awards of Communication Excellence from The ESOP Association. Eagle was awarded “Company of the Year” from the Heart of America ESOP Association along with numerous regional and national awards. The ESOP allows Eagle’s 170 employees to share in the ownership and growth of the company resulting in outstanding customer service and commitment to excellence. Shorman participates in numerous business and community activities. He current serves as Chairman of The ESOP Association and is past Chairman of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and the National Cable Television Cooperative. In 2011 Shorman was honored as Hays’ “Citizen of the Year” by the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of “Leadership Kansas,” a statewide leadership program. Shorman hosts the annual “Hays Duck Derby” which raises money for children through Big Brothers Big Sisters. He is also host of the radio show and podcast, “Forward Ever, Leading in Challenging Times”. Gary is a life long Kansan and proud of his Clay County, Kansas heritage where his parents still live on their family farm. Gary is a licensed instrument pilot, and enjoys running, and riding old Harley motorcycles. He and his wife Mary Ann live in Hays, Kansas and they have five children and 5 of the cutest grandkids in the world!
