Gary is a mature professional executive who has fulfilled a variety of high-level roles spanning aviation, ITC, and recruitment. Gary has a wide range of both corporate and small business experience. He has exercised leadership roles in business, reaching an Exco position at South African Airways, as COO at Velvet Sky Aviation, as well as starting his own solutions business. He has successfully launched and managed major projects, and has extensive international exposure. He formed his company, Webb Elgin Associates, 28 years ago. The firm has products and services in both aviation and recruitment solution spaces, and also provides general IT and consulting services. Highlight company projects include the implementation of major scheduling systems both locally and overseas. The flagship product is the WECOMS Planning and Operations system which for many years was the backbone of FlySafair scheduling, rostering, and operations control, amongst others.His career started at South African Airways, where his 20 year tenure included management positions in Engineering and Commercial. During this time he gained intimate knowledge of most aspects of airline business practice, with a particular bias towards the use of systems to promote competitive advantage. He led major strategic projects including the establishment of SA Express, a commuter airline subsidiary, as well as the implementation of an integrated planning and operations system. He reached an executive management position with overall responsibility for commercial planning, network, scheduling, revenue management, and marketing planning.
