Co-author of book: Invisible Element: A practical Guide for the Human Dynamics of Innovation. Innovative and versatile senior leader with over 40 years of diversified experience in the development and commercialization of consumer food products as well as Department of Defense R&D. Most recently, providing leadership and innovation focused on applying this experience into helping create a high school which integrates academics with business and higher education to meet student needs in today’s world. Strong managerial and technical skills in combining business requirements with human dynamics to successfully deliver innovation spanning the spectrum from breakthrough to incremental. Demonstrated leadership / managerial skills to create long-term platform strategies, develop conceptual ideas and to transform these ideas into commercial products yielding a quantifiable gain for the organization.

Areas of significant experience include:-Product and process development-New ventures (breakthrough innovation significantly leveraging external resources)-Packaging-Sensory-Bio-technology (breeding program as well as genetic research)-Warehouse systems-Control systems -Knowledge managementAccountabilities in each of these areas included strategy development, budget management, people development, overall management of development activities and interfacing with organizations outside of R&D (e.g., Marketing, Operations, etc.).

Primary focus was the development of breakthrough fiber optic systems for the Department of Defense. Activities included writing proposal, developing new systems such as a satellite receiving system for NSA, an air deployable system for the Army, fiber guided missile system for the Army, teaching courses on fiber optics system design and connector installation.

Assignments included research into the use of lasers in target identification and simulation of the first “fly-by-wire” system for use in the F-18.
