I help owners, tenants, and other stakeholders solve complex real estate issues, and have worked in a variety of western US markets and property types. I believe the smart use of land and buildings helps us in so many ways, economically, culturally, ecologically, and personally. Starting as a commercial real estate appraiser (MAI) and analyst, my experience evolved into real estate investment underwriting, asset management, leasing and project management, dispositions, and development. My projects have ranged from managing full-block urban mixed-use complexes to working closely with small retail tenants on marketing and lease issues. Update: Now, during the extended pandemic environment, I am looking forward to in helping owners and occupants with risk analysis, solutions to tenancy challenges, highest and best use analysis, REO issues, and workouts. Since moving to Seattle at the end of 2005, my work included more than $500 million in dispositions, and managing a variety of projects, including retail, restaurants, multi-family residential, hotel, biotech, and marinas. Most of all, I enjoyed working with property management teams, coaching them on tactics and goals, and learning from them. I previously did similar work in San Francisco, covering properties from Denver to Honolulu and up and down the West Coast. Another project involved working with the US Forest Service on a conservation easement. Besides commercial real estate, I have been teaching skiing at Crystal Mountain, Washington, and continue to enjoy the personal relationships and excitement of teaching snow sports. You have to trust your instructor when he or she points you down that mountain! Most recently, I planned, designed (CAD drawings), permitted, managed subcontractors, and personally worked on the construction of two ADU’s (Accessory Dwelling Units) in homes in Portland and Seattle. I have enjoyed both the design work, and “getting my hands dirty”.
