Dr. Gathuru Mburu has over twenty years experience in the earth sciences & industrial sectors. He is a PhD graduate in mechanical engineering from Aberdeen University, UK. In 2012 Dr. Gathuru founded Kipya Africa, a knowledge services company, where he is the CEO. He previously worked for a global industrial, mining, oil & gas products company over a period of ten years and was based in Tanzania, Belgium and USA. His experience covers the industrial fields of surface mining, underground mining, oil & gas (onland and offshore), water, geothermal and geotechnical. Dr. Gathuru is a founding Member of the Mineral Rights Board in Kenya's Ministry of Petroleum & Mining, a Member of the Energy & Extractives Sector Skills Advisory Committee of the TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council, a Board Member of the Geothermal Association of Kenya and a Visiting Lecturer at Strathmore University, Nairobi.
