Profile bio

About Dr. Greg Atkinson

I am passionate about the discipline of Geography and about higher education. After receiving my Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Waterloo, I secured a position at Tarleton State University as an "assistant professor" in Geography. As the sole geographer on campus, I taught a variety of web-enhanced, online, & hybrid courses in the discipline (e.g., World Regional Geography, Introductory Human Geography, Economic Geography, Urban Geography, Population Geography, GIS, etc.). After being promoted (to associate professor) and receiving tenure, my research interests shifted more towards "geographic education," particularly in the use of technology in promoting geographic literacy. This interest in pedagogy and technology continues. I actively maintain blogs on both Scoop.it and WordPress that deal with both issues.

Listed skills include Geography, Higher Education, University Teaching, Educational Technology, and 17 others.
