    I primarily worked on 2 projects in the BLAST Lab under Dr. Mark Pankow.FEA of composites under Fatigue- Progressive damage FE model for laminated composites under fatigue - Built, debugged, and executed Abaqus 2D and 3D shell FE models for fatigue damage by writing user subroutines (USDFLD and UFIELD)- Exploited the implicit dynamic and linear static solvers in Abaqus with cohesive zone behavior, standard contact, element deletion, and material damage- Modeled the degradation of in-plane (matrix and fiber) and delamination with increasing number of loading cycles- Analyzed failure mechanisms and post-fatigue properties; achieved results within 10% of experimental data Experimental Testing and Design- Part of a NSF funded project to sense damage to aircraft components in case of lightning strikes- Designed and setup experiments for testing composite laminates under complex loading conditions- Built a proof of concept experimental setup to efficiently recreate damage in composites for a lightning strike event - Conducted experimental tests for shock impact and lightning strike damage- Data acquisition using high speed imaging (visible and IR), thermocouples, and digital image correlation- Investigated the relationship between voltage and temperature rise during lightning strikesApart from this, I also fabricate (hand layups, vacuum bagging) and test composite samples as per ASTM standards as and when needed.
