Before undertaking a career in finance and banking, I had a scientific education. I studied biology (Master of Science) and organic chemistry at the University of Lausanne. I concluded my cursus there with a PhD thesis. In research, I worked at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow (physical chemistry) and at the Nestlé Research Center in Lausanne (food technology). I was hired by Nestlé to develop a project at the Epcot Center in Walt Disney World, Orlando.I then did an internship with UBS Wealth Management, in finance, asset management and private client advisory services. Within this company, I carried out various activities in line with my background, such as advising private clients on their investments (biotech, medtech); advising startup founders; providing sector analysis (biotechnologies, nanotechnologies); contributing to international conventions. At UBS, I also held a number of managerial positions, including creating and leading teams in the front office, as well as managing project to integrate technology into organizational processes.After this international experience, I took up a challenge and became CEO of a bank. A human-scale, regionally-oriented, Caisse d'Epargne Riviera, a cooperative company and bicentenary institution, has built its notoriety and accomplished far-reaching change. Rooted in the purest Swiss banking tradition, it has preserved its DNA as a proximity bank, during a decade in which the banking and financial sector was about to undergo spectacular mutations, whether from a regulatory point of view or from a technological standpoint, or in terms of the way banking and financial services are consumed, or even in the face of downright hostile market conditions.These are 35 years of professional activities, marked by countless encounters, and driven by listening to people and carrying out experiments on entrepreneurship. Putting them to work for others is just great.
