In 2023 Gavin celebrated 40 years in the Financial Services Industry. A qualified lawyer and Certified Financial Planner, Gavin joined the Liberty Group in 1983. He fulfilled various job roles in his 19 years with the company. After heading up the Marketing and Legal function at Liberty, he was appointed the Managing Director of Liberty Collective Investments Ltd (formerly Guardbank and Millennium) in 2000.He also served on the boards of Oracle Employee Benefits Consultants, Liberty Ermitage Asset Management (Jersey) Limited and Liberty Healthcare. With effect from 1 August 2000, Gavin moved to head up Liberty Group's consumer e-commerce offering, MyLife. Gavin served as a trustee of the Liberty Group Pension Fund and The Liberty Foundation. He has served on the Policyholder Taxation & Intermediary Liaison Committees of the LOA and the subcommittee which drafted, with the government, the current Long Term Insurance ActIn June 2002 became a director and shareholder in PIB Financial Services (Pty) Ltd. In March 2006 Gavin became CEO of Sasfin Financial Advisory Services (Pty) Ltd. Gavin served as a member of the management board of the Sasfin Group Retirement Fund. In 2009 Gavin was appointed CEO of Sasfin Wealth including Sasfin Securities and Sasfin's newly established Asset Management businessIn January 2011 Gavin and Lucille acquired the Pig & Whistle a heritage site and the oldest continuously licenced pub in South Africa. He operates from there travelling and advising his clients countrywide.In 2017, after 15 years, Gavin stepped down as a board member of the Financial Intermediaries Association (FIA) where he had Chaired their Financial Planning subcommittee.
