I am an experienced Chartered Accountant.I trained in general practice before transitioning into the corporate services and auditing. Within my audit work, I primarily worked with owner-managed and medium-sized companies. Later, I developed a specialism in charities and not-for-profit organisations, which I find both challenging and rewarding. Some of my clients make a significant difference in people’s lives, and it's gratifying to contribute, even in a small way, to their work. I took this further in 2024 and obtained the ICAEW Diploma in Charity Accounting, which recognises my experience and skill in this sector.In May 2023 I took a new role as Training and Compliance Senior Manager at Ensors. This position offers me valuable insights into the inner workings of accountancy firms, ranging from ICAEW regulatory reporting to CPD and cold file reviews, amidst the ever-evolving statutory requirements. Additionally, as implied by my title, I undertake training responsibilities, primarily focused on corporate services, leveraging my strengths. However, I've also conducted sessions on client portfolio management, CPD, various induction programs, and an introduction to OneNote, which have broader interest within the firm compared to audit based ISA 315 sessions.While I've always had a keen interest in technology, particularly Apple products, my current role necessitates the creation of training slides. I'm thoroughly enjoying the design aspect of using PowerPoint, albeit as a novice user. Moreover, I've embraced OneNote as my primary organiser, seamlessly integrating it across my laptop and iPad to ensure easy access to relevant information, notes, and to-do lists. This diverse portfolio includes several charities, allowing me to stay involved in charity accounting and audit issues.A new aspect of my role involves collaborating with colleagues to explore new software solutions. From audit deliverables and work planning tools to online training portals and accounting packages, the array of available products is vast. While we can't adopt them all, I thoroughly enjoy exploring these options and discovering how ICT solutions can enhance our efficiency and productivity. I have recently started looking at benefits of AI, which is a brand new world of opportunity.
