Project Management based role focused on identifying, facilitating and executing operational based cost savings and efficiency improvements within the manufacturing, planning, supply chain and distribution environments.Key projects included: - National Rationalisation of Fruit & Produce bulk packaging "Octabin" range from two footprints and 13 heights to one standard national footprint and 9 standard heights. This enabled significant efficiency improvements by reducing the number of set ups on the "Jumbo" converting machine. - Identification of products that were underperforming against their standard costing model and offer alternative manufacturing or specification options to improve bottom line.- Cost savings in the order for $500,000 over 16 projects through waste reduction and efficiency improvement projects- Provide expert advice on operations budget considerations and performance reviews - Identification of $650,000 in 2004 in lost revenue to business owed by third party providers who had not been invoiced, highlighting urgent need for business process re-design.- Increase manufacturing focus on Delivery in Full on Time (DIFOT).

Brooklyn is Orora’s national centre of excellence for “Heavy Duty” related corrugated packaging running to a 24 hour operational plan. This was a manufacturing site based leadership role in Operations and Supply Chain. Three key areas of reporting included i. Despatch & distribution team ii. Site planning and paper ordering iii. Heavy Duty Assembly Manufacturing. The role was responsible for all aspects of planning and distribution functions underpinned with change management focus to realign what was a traditional site silo structure into a one stop shop for all logistical/ supply chain related matters. Key objectives :1) Ensure that the manufacturing & distribution functions ran at optimum levels, maintaining maximum plant efficiency through efficient allocation of labour resources, machinery assets across complicated work mix over a three shift operation. 2) Develop culture of team towards behaviours and communication values that were more customer service orientated – fostering improvements internally between distribution, planning and assembly departments which enabled superior response times to customer service. 3) Implement & sustain improvements in the Safety culture for the despatch team at a point in time where considerable plant expansion plans were to be executed. In 2000 the plant underwent a significant capital expansion of $55m including a new 2.8m wide triple chop knife, triple single facer corrugator and three converting machines. Critical in the execution of the expansion was the project management aspects of sustaining supply & DIFOT while the new corrugator and converting machines were commissioned. This was successfully managed under my management over a 4 month period with minimal disruption to the customer base. At peak periods over 1000 pallets of product was made and shipped every 24 hours.

- Plan site to ensure all machine centres fully balanced to minimise downtime and maximise DIFOT. - Optimise corrugator programming and flute sequencing to maximise efficiency, minimise waste , minimise change overs and ensure the appropriate mix of work is produced to avoid any line stoppages. - Optimise converter machine lines ups to ensure there are no line stoppages and streamline order sequence to minimise set up time losses. - Liaise with customer service and distribution to ensure all key priority tasks are achieved and communicate critical order updates as required.- Shift supervision support.

This was a line management role responsible for all aspects of manufacturing on night shift. My key responsibilities included: - Observe and support all aspects of OHS&E procedures, initiatives and regulations.- Ensuring maximum efficiencies were achieved with available resources on all machines and reduce down times that were within control.- Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues.- Performance manage underperforming staff .- Liaise with site planning & distribution on ensuring key order priorities were achieved.

This role was an introductory role to Amcor Fibre Packaging’s manufacturing operations. This role provided direct auxiliary support to the manufacturing leadership team in managing the operations of the site. Responsibilities included job risk & safety management analysis, assurance of environmental compliance measures, process efficiency review’s, site planning back up, shift supervision back up. The manufacturing process included a 2.25m wide corrugator, flexo-folder gluer processes, rotary and flat bed die-cut processes, specialty glue processes and a range of fitments processing machines.
