Being a Senior Practitioner, I oversee the management of some of the highest risk people who reside in the community, and those who present with very complex needs. My role also includes coaching and developing frontline staff and providing leadership support for Service Managers and wider leadership teams.As a Probation Officer, I work with people who are recently released from prison or subject to a community-based sentence or order. My role is to support and motivate those individuals to comply with the conditions that are imposed by the NZ Courts or NZ Parole Board. A significant part of my mahi includes responding appropriately to non-compliance and risk of reoffending), and linking people to the reintegrative and rehabilitative programmes needed to support positive change. I additionally provide the Courts and Parole Board with recommendations and reports to inform sentencing decisions and progress updates. Ultimately, our goal is to reduce reoffending and support positive change for those in our care.
