Working as part of CSIRO in the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Group where I was the principal software engineer for Wildcat (https://research.csiro.au/robotics/tag/slam/), one of the worlds best SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) solutions.Wildcat is a commercially available software solution that has several customers, and has been demonstrated in several applications and projects such as the DARPA SubT Challenge where the mapping results of our team were superior to all other competitors from world-leading bodies such as JPL, MIT, and ETH.The solution underpins a large variety of applications from 3D mapping to autonomy for robotic systems including UGVs etc. and has been designed to be capable of rapid adaptation for new research directions, while at the same time offering exceptional performance capable of running on embedded systems.Since SLAM covers such a vast area, my area of expertise ranges from low-level driver implementations, all the way to high-level algorithmic solutions dealing with multi-modal sensing systems, and 3D non-linear optimization problems.
