Gavin's current role is Principal Consultant, Cybersecurity Capability Lead at bdna. He works with the various specialists at bdna to deliver quality consultancy services across business, IT and cyber security focused on improving society. In 2021 Gavin took his long time interest in IT and combined it with his 30+ years of investigative experience to start down a path to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications in Cyber/Information Security. He is a passionate learner in this field achieving his CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications. He went on to complete his Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity with Charles Sturt University gaining a GPA of 6.75. He also received an Executive Dean's Award for academic performance. Not one to stay idle for long Gavin's latest goal is achieving his CISSP certification before the end of 2024. Gavin's knowledge and self taught skills have been put to good use as in consulting roles as a Remediation Specialist as a critical member of the small but specialised security team for a national not-for-profit health care provider and as a Security Engineer consultant in a niche SaaS provider client engagement.Gavin has been in the investigative field as an operational investigator and educator for over 30 years. He has experience in criminal, disciplinary and root cause investigations. He has also had a parallel 20 year career as a trainer of non-accredited workshops and educator delivering accredited Certificate IV and Diploma qualifications in the Government Investigation discipline. In 2011 Gavin commenced an instructional design and facilitation contractor role with Investigation Compliance and Enforcement Training Systems (ICETS), a specialist educator of Government investigators. He worked as a contractor for ICETS until taking up a full time Operations Management role in 2016. He was introduced to the COMtrac Investigation & Evidence Management system from it's development and has used it for more than five years. His current role combines his systems and investigative experience and knowledge to develop and implement the COMtrac for new and existing clients. He also provides support and testing roles relying on his extensive knowledge of the system. Gavin managed his own consultancy business ORBIS Global from 2011 to 2016 providing specialist business analyst consultancy and training services.Gavin was a sworn police officer and wrapped up his 18 year career with the Queensland Police Service as a Senior Policy Officer in 2006.
