As a Lecturer at Abertay, I am responsible for teaching on a number of modules which include:Advanced Topics in Computing (Data Engineering) (Module Lead)Introduction to Security (Module Lead)Enterprise Systems Engineering and Big DataIoT and Cloud Secure DevelopmentI also supervise a number of Honours and Masters projects throughout the year, and I am also an AWS Academy Authorised Instructor.My research interests lie primarily in Digital Forensics and Information visualisation, as this is my background which stems from my PhD work. I have also taken an interest in IoT security and pedagogy of secure software development practices.

My role required me to maintain various systems critical to the business, such as reporting functionality. This often involved creating new reports, and interacting with the backend Oracle database. I also led the transition from PDAs to Android tablets for all 50 field service engineers and provided continuous support. This included remote support using Teamviewer and telephone support. I regularly liaised with the central IT department in France to discuss issues, and future functionality.I was also heavily involved in the commissioning and running of 2 Ubuntu Linux servers, and migration of systems from an existing Windows Server. These are running a PHP website with a back-end MySQL database. I was also responsible for the setup of an remote backup solution for this database.

My research focussed on applying information visualisation techniques to digital forensics datasets. This involved creating a number of prototype software solutions, using languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python etc. A final prototype solution which visualised a timeline of the user activity on the device was then assessed with a group of experience test users.Passed viva examination in Nov 2015 with minor corrections. Graduation July 2016.

While a PhD student at Abertay, I was involved in assisting in, and teaching a number of undergraduate modules. This included creation of original module content regarding the foundations of Linux and Cloud Computing, which was delivered to a 1st year class over a 2 week period and included a 30 min lecture and 2x 2hr labs.I was also the module tutor for the Access to Computing module. This involved teaching a small class the fundamentals of programming using Android App Inventor, and assisting them with self-directed learning in an area of their choice. 2x 30min lectures were also given about Linux and Cloud Computing. I was also solely responsible for administering assessments and giving feedback. Student feedback from this module was highly positive.

I was responsible for designing and developing an Android application for the Food Sciences department which would replace their paper-based system when conducting taste tests.The framework of this application was completed successfully, and it was passed to another student to complete when I commenced my PhD studies.

A short position was taken to provide work experience. During this post, I was responsible for assisting the migration to a new Drupal based content management system.
