Arriva Southern Counties employs 2,000 colleagues with a fleet of over 750 vehicles to deliver localbus and coach services across seven counties in the south-east of England. This role had full P&L responsibility across seven of the twelve sites and over 1,000 colleagues covering half of the Southern Counties business whilst continuing as a statutory director across all legal entities as a member of the Board.Responsible for seven operating sites and the delivery to budget in a peopleintensive business in a challenging regulatory and Union environment.

Responsible for working with the local business teams to drive improvements in all aspects of the business including the identification and delivery of over £1m of cost saving opportunities in driver pay, the securing of £300k revenue and the delivery of improvements in several key performance indicators including driver efficiency, health & safety, compliance and risk as a Statutory Director of the Board.

Go East Anglia was the newly introduced name for Go-Ahead’s bus operations in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk comprising of Anglianbus, Chambers, Hedingham and Konectbus. With 450 employees, eight depots, six park and ride sites and responsibility for Norwich Bus Station, the regional business is a complex geographically wide-spread operation with a turnover of £20m. The role involved full P&L responsibility for all four businesses as a Statutory Director and one of only two directors; and was tasked with bringing together the businesses into a cohesive regional grouping by leading the team through a programme of transformational change without losing the local identity of each business.

Project Managing the timetable changes required as a result of the Thameslink London Bridge Station rebuild.

Deputy to the Operations Director for all Operational matters within the business. Main areas of focus are team managment of senior depot managers including a General Manager and Operations Managers, service performance delivery (particularly with regards to Transport for London sevices), responsible for overall HR function, delivery of projects for change, undertaking Appeals for Grievances and Disciplinary matters including dismissals.

Ensure the smooth running of the Commercial department through leading a team of commercial officers. Assisting in the development of network services to grow the coverage of the business. Write business cases and tender bids to expand the business into new operating areas. Improving performance relaibility and punctuality through managing focus groups. Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships with the Union, Local Councils and wider business partners.

To ensure succesful daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance across Devon by default. To manage the business during a period of difficult transformation.
