Regional representation and humanitarian strategy review:- Updated and expanded the French Red Cross Caribbean humanitarian strategy, to include reconstruction and disaster preparedness, in coordination with Movement partners.- Helped set up the first French Red Cross Regional Delegation for the Caribbean, and guide strategic planning and institutional communication for the unit;- Launched disaster preparedness programs at community level (in the English-speaking Caribbean), Resource mobilization:- Led needs assessments, donors sensitization and proposal development. 2.7 M euros received from the following grants:o INTERREG: Regional disaster response capacity, 12/2007.o ECHO: Housing rehabilitation (Hurricane Dean, Jamaica), 10/2007.o DIPECHO: Community disaster preparedness (Dominica), 06/2007.o INTERREG: Regional disaster response capacity (Guadeloupe / Haiti / Dominica / Trinidad / Saint Lucia), 04/2007.Disaster Response:- Coordinated the humanitarian preparedness of the French Red Cross, with the prepositioning of stocks and training of early response units (PIRAC platform);- Led the French Red Cross initial assessment of, and response to, emergency and shelter recovery needs following the passage of Hurricane Dean Response in Haiti, Jamaica and the French Overseas Departments. Capacity building:- Supported proposal development for National Societies of the Caribbean;- Led the training of the Haitian Red Cross first responders.
