Possessing a sound knowledge of the gaming industry’s extremely complex compliance and regulatory requirements, Gavin joined eBET to perform a number of tasks including the creation and management of quality and compliance processes and systems. Analysing and improving internal Product Compliance functions as well as the day to day creation of regulatory submissions, Gavin also played a key role in the response to tenders and external audits. As legislation, regulation and standard’s change, Gavin continues to welcome and adopt industry transformation, which over the years has allowed him to become proficient in a variety of legislation.

Upon the conclusion of the joint venture with eBet Gavin took on a Senior Principle role contributing knowledge and experience towards quality initiatives creating a very successful quality process which included compliance reviews early in development, working with the artists and programmers to enhance product quality. This reduced the issues at the tail end of the process allowing games to be approved without external issues being discovered. This new initiative was a first for WMS and saved countless hours of jurisdictional testing and reduced overall project costs by approximately 20%.

A new joint venture was created with eBet to produce games for the local market. Gavin’s career success and experience in Project Management, Compliance and Games Designs was called upon to spearhead the development of games in a remote international studio in India. Creating new processes and providing guidance for the team on local designs and regulations proved to be a huge success and established an efficient high quality development model. Testing, compliance and quality assurance were also taken on by Gavin, he also allowed time to support sales and marketing teams and help them understand the intricacies of designs increasing their sales confidence in the product performance. Creation of technical documentation, manuals, service bulletin and submission documentation were also taken on so Gavin was hands on during the entire development and approval process.

At the conclusion of the joint venture with Stargames Gavin took on a Producer role in which he lead a team of artists, programmers, sound engineers, game designers and mathematician’s taking on up to 30 individual projects simultaneously. Working on some of the most successful international games and categories in the industry, motivation, morale and game performance reached all time highs, helping WMS to become the best game manufacturer in the industry. Gavin is a supporter of Agile Development and Test Driven Development presenting in internal workshops for the Australian studio and is well respected among his peers. His technical abilities proved to be a key in cost savings by reconfiguring expensive electronic configurations locally avoiding international development and shipping expenses which were mounting to tens of thousands of dollars per month.

Moving into the gaming industry Gavin ‘s successful career began in the product assurance department, improving testing processes and compliance standards enabling WMS Gaming to enter the Australian market in a joint venture with Stargames in 2001. Streamlining test processes enhanced product quality and reduced development time and costs by around 25%. Over the coming years Gavin pursued more markets/jurisdictions from a compliance perspective handing down critical information to the teams so the company could break into these markets and increase market share. More than 370 individual themes across multiple jurisdictions and platforms were made during this period bolstering the company’s presence in Australia and New Zealand and increasing profitability.

Along with Quality Assurance, Gavin introduced production line methodologies to the assembly of computer systems. This more than doubled the production output allowing the business to become more competitive in their market space. This methodology is still being used today in many IT businesses to provide fast efficient, quality results.

Gavin started his career in the IT industry predominantly heading up quality assurance departments, technical services and customer support. He increased manufacturing efficiencies and improved quality processes enabling the expansion of production resulting in an increase of profits to a record $2million per month.
