Support, organize, and manage a group of 45 undergraduate students in accomplishing the mission of the Penn State EcoReps. Work with other student-led groups including Lion Ambassadors, the Student Sustainability Advisory Council and EcoAction to offer mutual support, educational opportunities, and learning opportunities for the cohort.

In this position, I worked directly with first-year students to assist them in living sustainably on campus. Specifically, I work within the Dining Committee - focusing primarily on preventing compost contamination and promoting reusable take-out options. I communicate directly with students through tabling events, interactive activites, and speaking at first-year seminars.

In this fellowship, I serve in a consulting role to assist research laboratories in achieving sustainability certification through My Green Labs’ sustainable lab survey program. I help researchers to understand the results of the survey and facilitate conversations about the implementation of changes in research practices. These changes can range from something as minor as the installation of outlet timers to something as complex as the installation of sash height sensors on fume hoods. I also work with University Operations to complete waste, water, and energy auditing of the lab space. Throughout my time in the program, I have helped two labs in achieving a “Green” certification - which is the highest score bracket achievable on the survey. I will be spending my final year in the fellowship in an advisory role, helping to develop the program for future students.

In this position, I help to maintain the grounds of a non-sectarian, historic cemetery which contains 75 developed acres supporting over 25,000 internments and a further 45 undeveloped acres. I operate and maintain landscaping and earthmoving equipment including handheld string trimmers, mowers, tractors, trucks, and backhoes to ensure that the West Newton Cemetery remains a peaceful vista of beauty that the community continues to select as their final destination.

Worked within the Electrical Power Generation Team to develop a new project component tracking function on proprietary cost management software. Upon completion, worked with marketing team to consolidate nationwide database of electrical contractors into concise list of in-territory contacts.
