I am a highly experienced conservation ecologist and botanist having worked on and led a number of high profile field-based and strategic threatened species management projects, mostly in the NSW public sector, since 2015. In this time I have held the roles of Team Leader and Project Officer, Threatened Species Assessment for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, and as Seedbank Officer with the Royal Botanic Gardens. My skills are often sought out for threatened species and environmental conservation projects locally, nationally and internationally. I sit on several conservation governance panels including the Australian National Common Assessment Method Working Group which seeks to ensure alignment of threatened species listings across Australia, and the NSW Saving Our Species program’s Species Technical Group which seeks to ensure conservation actions are appropriately implemented for NSW threatened species. I have also been involved in IUCN Red List projects as a technical expert to provide guidance on and have input into Red Listing programs. Having spent many years in the field, including extensive periods of remote fieldwork surveying and collecting rare plants across NSW, I am highly proficient in managing, planning and executing significant fieldwork programs. This vast field experience also gives me unique insights into the in situ conservation needs of rare and threatened species, which I regularly call on to assist in enhancing and improving conservation programs and legislation across NSW and Australia. I have also conducted training in seed and ex situ plant collection, conservation strategy development, the principles behind threatened species listings, and plant identification for internal and external partners, including on-country workshops with traditional owners and indigenous rangers.I am also a recognised expert in eucalypt taxonomy, ecology, and conservation (with a field guide for the eucalypts of NSW in preparation), and terrestrial orchid ecology and conservation. I also have interests in the taxonomy and conservation of Australian Asteraceae (namely Brachyscome and Rutidosis), Rutaceae, and Euphrasia (Orobanchaceae), and in desert flora ecology.
