I have over 25 years’ experience in advising expatriates. I was a founding Partner of an independent firm of financial consultants in the Sultanate of Brunei advising expatriates and high net-worth families on all aspects of financial and succession planning using trusts and tax efficient investment structures. Joined Blevins Franks in the Algarve in 2000.I have a deep understanding of the issues affecting expatriates in or moving to this sunny corner of Europe, particularly the cross border aspects of financial planning.Formal qualifications include the Diploma for Financial Advisers (DipFA) and the full UK Financial Planning Certificate. I'm a member of the Personal Finance Society by Certificate and have attended wealth planning and investment courses in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney as well as Rome and London, a little closer to home.In the very little spare time I have, I would love to get my golf handicap to a respectable level. As an incurable romantic I believe that Partick Thistle is the only real football team in Glasgow.I'm registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK and I'm a Member of the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF).
