About Gavin Smith

As a first generation Black American male, I was made very aware of the importance of a good education. That awareness shaped me. I found my passion educating and cultivating the minds of young people, many of whom have similar lived experiences as myself. My ultimate goal is to help all stakeholders grow together, education as a means of liberation for all involved. I am a passionate and creative educator and a lifelong learner. I believe in the power of possibility with schools, communities, students, and families. I believe in high expectations and meaningful support. This has been true for me in my role as a teacher and now as Head of School in Boston Public Schools.
