Managing a £1.8m portfolio of activity to make Brighton city centre a better place to work in, live and visit. We provide the largest annual Christmas lights display on the UK South Coast; decorate the city during the summer months with banners, bunting and hanging baskets and run a city centre Ambassadors scheme to provide real time support to businesses to beat crime and antisocial behaviour.As well as this, we manage a range of support offers to help businesses to be more sustainable. Thus far we've negotiated deals with NCP, Juice FM, The Argus, Brighton & Hove Jobs.com, CCS Card Services, BCR Associates and many more, potentially saving our businesses over £1000 per month.We also run the Brilliant Brighton website and twitter account - allowing our members to access over 14000 local customers free of charge with their news and special offers.The BID provides access to local business support, training and consultations via a weekly e-news alert and quarterly newsletters.Notable contributions; Delivered the Brighton City Centre Business Improvement District via business vote for its third 5-year term. Increasing positive vote by 10% to 75% of businesses voting in favour.  Negotiated additional benefit deals with commercial ventures including a £15,000 reduction in fees for members from NCP parking and advertising, discounts on staff training through local education facilities, and discounted membership of the local chamber of commerce.  Managed all board meetings, maintaining clarity of agenda and ensuring an aligned array of engaged staff across all required disciplines.

The Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership is an independent unincorporated association with a membership of about 50 people drawn from every sector of the local economy. It works with the local authority to publish the economic strategy for the city and inputs into a wide variety of consultation opportunities at local and regional level that will influence the direction of the economy. Working closely with the city council, it also administers the city's inward investment website and contributes to the overall inward investment service. Key contributions include; Successfully delivered the new iteration of the Brighton & Hove Economic Strategy in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council.  Collaborated with UKTI (Now DiT) to facilitate an additional ~£65m of foreign investment into the city – resulting in the creation of the Greater Brighton Export & Investment plan, published in 2018.  Successfully took a failing Business Improvement District and saw a 15% increase in positive votes at the last ballot in 2016, securing £2m worth of funding and the continuation of the business for another 5 years. Currently working with Visit Britain as the only area in the South East of England which is engaged in supporting the development of a Sector Deal for Tourism as part of the Governments Industrial Strategy (all other involvement has thus far come from the North of England)
