Established a new function to shift marketing activity from mass marketing to targeted customer-centric marketing. Accountable for creation and development of go-to-market activity across each product-line and customer market. Addressed shifts in buying behaviour with introduction of new campaign and analytics capabilities to enable Scientific Marketing and micro-targeted digital marketing. Conceived and developed initiatives to strengthen customer sentiment and create more reasons to buy and stay. Deployed new propositions that transformed the business focus from new customer acquisition to existing customers.

As the CMO for Optus Consumer, led a large ~160 marketing team and significant marketing and advertising budget. The accountabilities included research, business intelligence, product management, new development and marketing communications. In a highly competitive market, grew customers for each product line with a relentless and granular focus on trading performance along with focussed offer management. Developed and launched some game-changers including high value bundles, first-to-market products, customer relationship initiatives (Qantas Frequent Flier) and promotions constructed with device and retail partners.

Bottom-line accountability for the Business Unit which delivered ~$1B in revenue across it’s Satellite and Wholesale fixed and mobile businesses. Led the team to deliver on its ambitious business targets, growing each of its key product lines with a focus on business development, customer re-signs and promotions. Developed major industry-shaping mobile service provider solutions. Executed process re-engineering initiatives to deliver improved customer experience and operational performance.

Responsible for defining wholesale strategy and execution through marketing and cross-team initiatives. Addressed declining base of wholesale mobile customers by undertaking a strategic review and transformation of Optus’ Wholesale Mobile Strategy. Created new and unique products, engaged new partners and stepped-up investment for growth, doubling wholesale mobile services and revenue in just over 2 years. Evolved the fixed product portfolio to take the business from number 3 to number 2 in the Wholesale Fixed Market.

Established the Optus Business Transformation Management Office. The diverse team included programme managers, analysts, change managers and business strategists. Initiatives included major network enhancements, IT investments for process automation and business intelligence, new product capabilities in IP and mobility and a new focus on certain markets and customers. The transformation plan also incorporated a strong focus on organisational renewal and change management.

Responsible for all marketing activities of ~$1B Optus Business portfolio including product management of voice, data & mobile products, campaign development and execution, marketing communications, sales & pricing support, market & customer insight and major bids.
