Then studied Mech Engineering & resigned from active service in 1990. While in the Navy, Gavin developed a keen interest in movie-making & started a part time business in 1988, filming weddings.In 1990 Gavin joined Old Mutual, SA's oldest Life Insurance Co as a sales rep. After qualifying as a Financial Advisor in 1991, Gavin Blok Practice was created within the Old Mutual framework - providing financial services to individuals & corporate clients.In 1991, Gavin took his film production interest to the next level & partnered with TheVideoWorkshop to open a training & production facility.In 1997 Gavin left Old Mutual to open an Independent Brokerage offering a wider range of product to clients. Services included Financial & Estate Planning, Investment Advice & Short Term Insurance.Gavin's passion for working with people & his keen interest in media, led him to further his studies in the field of psychology and info systems at the University of Stellenbosch in 2003. He withdrew from the broking business to focus on his studies.Towards the end of 2004 he relocated with his family to Johannesburg in support of his wife's career. His business moved to Gauteng, offering website design, web hosting, professional photography & digital media services.In 2008 Gavin established a boutique photographic studio.
