Listening to users, finding out what they needed and putting together technical solutions for them. This would sometimes involve prototyping very rough demos of things, exploring the possibilities afforded by different APIs, connecting things to other things and generally researching possibilities before handing over to the dev team for production builds.Specifically, I made an automated system for gathering site speed data (Node, Lighthouse, Puppeteer), and worked with the Subscriptions Team and Dev Team to help them build a reporting system for subscriptions data in the Newsquest CMS. I also worked on integrating Newsquest's Consent Management Platform (the "Cookies" popup system) with the Archant website CMS, ensuring that the Ad code, header bidding code and analytics code worked well with it.I also worked with Newsquest on the handover of the legacy systems after they bought Archant, documenting the AWS systems we had and providing technical support.

Notably I worked on the login system for our websites (Piano), the commenting system (Coral) and AWS (using Node.js Lambdas), and also made initial versions of Archant's "Motors" and "Jobs" pages (AWS, React and their third party APIs) before handing them over to my dev team.Got the team working from home well before lockdown, thanks to a bit of experimentation when we had the "Beast from the East" cold weather in 2019. Transitioning to working from home was pretty painless for us.

I'm the senior front end web developer on Archant's Web Team. I'm responsible for front-end development of Archant's websites: solution architecture, production design, the build and any bits of custom code that may be required by the specifications. My main specialities are CSS (CSS3, LESS, SASS), Javascript, jQuery and HTML (including HTML5). I also have experience in matters of usability, user experience, design and information architecture (a technical term for the structure and organisation of a website). I'm also generally responsible for training new members of staff due to extensive experience in training people and my teaching background.

Front end design, banners, adverts, Flash, ASP.Net, VB.Net, MS SQL server. Devised an in-house database-driven bug reporting and tracking system. All levels of web development, from coding database tables, working with the data-access layer, the VB code-behind, via the ASP.Net and HTML code through to the CSS and Flash adverts.

Creating websites on Polopoly, styling using CSS, creating banners and icons.

Creating, editing and correcting XHTML legislation documents for publishing on Government OPSI website to tight daily deadlines. Editing, converting and correcting XML and SGML documents. Testing software.

Populated and updated content management system with product details using a mixture of plain text and HTML. Cropped, edited and resized images for use on the website. This was an entry-level role taken as part of a career change in 2007.
