I worked onsite at one of Logica’s largest clients in Melbourne, a government run utilities company with over 800 users and more than 200 servers. For the first 2 months I was positioned within a small project team where I was responsible for strategic technical tasks as part of a data centre relocation. I worked as part of an IT helpdesk team that provided IT outsourcing to SME’s as well as its parent and sister companies. This role included supporting MS Windows, MS Exchange, Active Directory, user administration, MS Office and TCP/IP networking. As the main field engineer I had to carry out desktop and server maintenance on a daily basis as well as advising the client on how to improve their networks/systems. Whilst onsite I quickly gained a lot of hands on experience and soon found myself becoming part of the pre-sales service.

At Seafood Direct I worked for the internal IT department on a shift pattern rota covering from Monday to Saturday from 8am-8pm. I provided network, server, desktop/laptop support to a large telesales and customer service department. I was given the responsibility of managing the in house Tennyson SOX phone system, phone lines and service providers. I also had to perform out-of-hours maintenance on the network and I was often sent out to the satellite offices throughout the UK to install and upgrade IT equipment. Furthermore I helped maintain the backend database and frontend application which processed customer orders.
