Hello! I am a linguist exploring how language and communication shape human behavior, identity and public discourse in relation to environmental issues. I received my Ph.D. in applied language and communication studies from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa in 2019, and specialize in ethnographic, qualitative and digital methods in environmental communication. My current research seeks to bring insights from the fields of communication, anthropology and linguistics together to understand the various modes of offline and online communication that different actors engage in to promote sustainable human behavior in conservation, tourism, as well as other settings such as business and education. Through this research I develop a set of analytic tools and communication strategies organizations can use to better observe, understand and measure sustainability interventions. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan (MultiLing) at the University of Oslo.
