In February 2005 my family relocated to Lincolnshire and I started as IT Operations Manager at VFM Services in Peterborough VFM is in the insurance fraud arena and has had a user base between 40 and 140 people over the last 10 years and currently employs 50 people and 9 home workers. Since joining this very hands on environment within an IT group ranging from 3 support people to just myself currently managing all aspects of IT infrastructure, all day to day user support, systems IT purchasing including supplier selection and on-going maintenance. In the last 18 months, VFM’s IT support has now reduced to me supporting all 60 users and has engaged an external supplier for larger more complex system updates / implementations which I scope and manage as required for the specific project which works well for VFM which were previously carried out by the knowledgeable in-house Infrastructure Manager. Over the last 10 years I have managed many projects, system implementations in addition to all day to day user support which I listed a few examples below: -• Upgraded the existing IP Office contact centre solution in Peterborough to latest version including multiple client wallboards showing statistics such as call volumes, call queuing, inbound agents performance. All calls on multiple ISDN30 trunks are recorded on the 500+ inbound calls via 0844 NGN numbers to allow ease of redirection in event of DR or site meetings.• Kept tight control of system security and user system updates across all IT systems, account management, introduction of processes for starters, leavers, and movers linked with HR and other internal groups.• Created an offsite Business Continuity Plan for IT systems.• Over the 10 years have managed the two Hitchin and one Peterborough office relocations.• Specified, created proposal to suppliers, choose supplier and managed multiple site 3 year outsource MPLS circuit, Internet connection, ADSL backup

In July 2003 I also assume responsibility of the Philips UK Medical systems Helpdesk Manager who move into Philips corporate team. This additional role involved managing the two one site analysts in the Reigate office plus input into the Philips shared services 1st line helpdesk based in Redhill.Some of the key projects completed whilst at Philips Medical systems• Managed the outsourced 1st and 2nd line outsourced IT Helpdesk, recently changing supplier.• Re organization of the IT part of a 30-person PMS service support call centre.• Re organization of the Reigate server rack infrastructure.• Planned role out of third replacement of remote users laptop each year from Reigate.• Management of the PMS phone, automatic call distribution system and recent upgrade.• Day to day management of all PC support requirements for all office and market based users.• PMS UK representative within EMEA for Notes 6 migration and new global Engineer PC image working groups working from PMS offices in Eindhoven, Netherlands.• Creation and role out of new PC image to 250 + PMS engineers across UK in a 3 month timeframe to meet global project timeline. Manage the additional 4 contractors required to complete this ambitious project before relocating to Stamford in Lincolnshire.

During the two and half years I have been in involved in many aspects of the IT support function of Philips Medical Systems (PMS) in the UK. From the Reigate, Surrey office we supported over 550 PC’s with over 350 laptop engineer / sales users and 5 remote branch offices around the UK. This role was created as part Philips decision to expand their Healthcare business unit by acquiring several businesses which raised the headcount in the PMS UK from 300 to 550 people. I assisted in the absorption of these additional users IT requirements.

Croydon / Paris, France

During these 3 years I moved entirely to a role coordinating projects and being the lead for several technologies EMEA. This involved working with counterparts in our corporate and regional head offices in Philadelphia and Paris.Some of the EMEA projects / support were - centre management of approx 2.5K Desktop / Laptop hardware assets that was leased via a European supplier getting best price rather individual sites purchasing and Rohm and Haas receiving volume cost saving. Over time I also added purchase of printer requirements across EMEA plus server hardware when a global rollout of Netware to Windows server was carried out. - part of team of two ( one chap in Paris and me in Croydon ) for all migrations and site escalation of email issues before these were potentially escalated to HQ in Philadelphia.- assisted in the Global new desktop rollout on a co-ordination of sites and skills.

For the next four years at Rohm and Haas I spent 60% of my time I lead local back office Infrastructure group, using technologies such as Novell, NT server and Wan / Lan links. For remaining 40% of my time supported several technologies and processes on a European basis such as European Email team and Standard PC desktop rollout team. This part of my role was reporting to a manager based in Paris, France. This role required me traveling to many Rohm and Haas European sites and also the companies HQ in Philadelphia, USA.

Joined Rohm and Haas, a speciality chemical manufacturer to implement a Novell Netware network and support the PC based users in Croydon.During this period in a team of initially two PC IT people accomplished many projects such as:-• Installed a Token Ring Novell 3.11 network moving about 100 users from dumb terminals and low end PC’s connected to a local AS/400.• Standardised all site desktops to Windows 3 and Microsoft desktop applications.• Leading European person setting initial standards for usage and configuration of servers and desktops.• Spearheaded the European movement of users from mainframe Profs to CCMail DB6 and CCMobile working with our US head office and Paris European IT hub.• Managed a team of up to 4 people looking after all local aspects of PC and site support.

Stand, London

Within a team of three I looked after all aspects of computing and communications links throughout the dealing room and associated departments at Clerical Medicals investment dealing floor. During my time we relocated from St James Square to a temporary office near The Stand in London.

Paxos, Greece

Worked in Paxos, Greece for eight months as a Dinghy Sailing and Windsurfing instructor. Sailed to different locations around the Island of Paxos each day with a mixture of novice sailor and experience sailors. For novice sailors they followed the RYA training scheme over their two week holidays. During each two week holiday the group would also sail across to Island of Anti Paxos where we slept out overnight or they completed a sail around the Island in one long day dependant on weather and sea conditions.

Product Support for a IBM and compatible computer dealership based in Rugby. This was a small company which meant I gained a wealth of experience in many areas of support travelling to many customer sites around the Midlands and several larger clients that Greengage supported in London. This roll was a job that used my skills gained during my industrial placement whilst completing my HND before I took up my Sailing job in Greece.
