Technical lead for storage infrastructure & backup design for the DWP Account’s Hosting Tower.Headed a team of up to six people to design and build a large datacentre backup infrastructure for the DWP, using multiple IBM Tivoli Storage Manager servers and a mixture of physical & virtual tape libraries. Working in a dual-data centre setting, delivered an infrastructure that is flexible, performant and capable of surviving disaster. Created an environment that supports thousands of backup clients and tens of thousands of backup operations every day.As the storage subject matter expert, advised the chief architects on the account, assessed alternate storage technologies and made design decisions for Hosting programmes on an ongoing basis - including the selection of a Brocade SAN encryption solution for the DWP Private Cloud and the selection of a secured NetApp storage platform for the Document Repository ServiceDeveloped an ASP.NET website and SQL Server database for gathering and reporting daily events and statistics for thousands of overnight backup jobs. Created a web forms application and SQL 2008 database, using techniques such as: DB access with LINQ and the Entity Framework; consistent site formatting with master pages and CSS themes; animation of web page elements with jQuery; use of AJAX panels and controls; and the creation of web services
