From senior editorial roles with News Corp to a startup entrepreneur and consultant, plus host of a weekly current affairs show on commercial radio... with a stint as a Queensland MP and Assistant Minister in between - it's been a ride! Based in Cairns, Tropical North Queensland, I've had a diverse career in media, marketing and political circles.My journalism career started in music street press in Sydney followed by nearly a decade with News Corp in roles such as political reporter, chief of staff, and editor-at-large with The Cairns Post, Centralian Advocate and Sunday Mail.In 2012, I won the seat of Cairns in the Queensland election and was appointed Assistant Minister for Tourism. During the term, I was also Chair of the Queensland-Papua New Guinea Exchange Taskforce, Chair of the Queensland Tourism Backbench Working Group and Chair of the North Queensland Insurance Action Group.In 2016, I founded media and marketing startup Tropic Group and led the company as managing director and editor. Tropic Group is a dynamic media and marketing company incorporating an online news site, deluxe print magazine, events and creative design and marketing agency. I then worked on a range of consulting projects for some awesome clients and hosted the weekly radio show The King Review on 4CA.These days I'm a Councillor Advisor at Cairns Regional Council, reporting to the Cairns Mayor and supporting Councillors to assist them in serving the community across a range of duties and projects.
