Working as an Assistant Practitioner on a Pediatric Assessment unit, assessing children from birth to 16 years of age in a clinical setting, within that 18 years I gained experience in many areas of nursing, working closely with doctors, nurses, community nursing team, safeguarding team and social services. I deliver holistic care to children and their families. My position also includes administration tasks, answering telephone calls and forwarding phone calls to the appropriate person.Duties:• Gathering information from parents, recording and inputting information on relevant systems used by the NHS• Building relationships with children using age appropriate communication and play therapy to provide the best care I can.• Treating all patients, families and work colleagues with dignity and respect • Adhering to ward policies and Guidelines • Delivering holistic care to children• Carrying out clinical procedures to assist doctors in obtaining a diagnosis, taking observations and acting upon anything out of normal parameters, inputting observations on to NHS systems• Be aware of the development of each child I care for and refer on to the appropriate service if a child is not meeting their milestones
