Building Systems Controls Infrastructure Support
Originally drafted internally to perform a security review and manage a hardware EOSL replacement project, I continuted to design/maintain/support the management systems. Moving from multiple single servers to a domain model, implementing messaging, working with 3rd party suppliers to maintain a consistent platform and ensure that systems integrate with Nomura standards and policies. I designed and implemented a domain upgrade from 2003 R2 to 2008 R2 along with a data centre migration. Working closely with suppliers to ensure that their software/systems smoothly migrated to latest OS requirements.
Risk Technology Global Infrastructure Architect
Having implemented several large scale solutions in Risk IT, I was moved in to the global strategy team to design and implement infrastructure for global Risk solutions. Working with the global enterprise architect I was responsible for interpreting requirements and designing and delivering two 1200 core compute grids, application and DB infrastructure including a 5TB OLTP DB platform and managing over 400TB of storage systems, leveraging various technologies. I ran a team with 4 direct reports with a global hardware budget of over $10M. I was also responsible for new data centre infrastructure design/migration for Risk systems as well as all Risk IT capacity planning and yearly IT infrastructure budget forecasting and tracking.
